What is the Super Y League (SYL)?

The Super Y League is a high-level, national summer league dedicated to the progression of youth soccer players and designed for talented youth players destined for college, professional or international careers. Affiliated with U.S. Soccer, the Super Y League ODP Program has opened countless doors for players to be identified for U.S. National Team programs. The Super Y League contains the youth academies of Major League Soccer clubs, USL PRO clubs, Premier Development League and W-League clubs.

What is the financial commitment?

CYA is proud to offer participation in Super Y at a minimal cost for selected players, and at one of the lowest fees in the DMV area.   The cost for the program is $550 for all players.  This cost does not include uniforms. Uniform cost is around $50 for two jerseys, shorts and socks.

Note:  Current CYA travel players will be able to use their CYA travel uniforms, incurring no additional cost for uniforms.

Who will be coaching the CYA Super Y Teams?

Continuing its dedication to providing the best educational environment for players, CYA Soccer will be using their current coaching staff to coach our Super Y teams in 2018.  In addition to their vast coaching experience both international and domestically, CYA Soccer’s high caliber staff has several years experience coaching in Super Y League, including competing in back-to-back Super Y League National Championships.

Does the Super Y League conflict with my regular team season?

No, the Super Y League runs during summer months after the spring soccer season finishes and before the fall season begins (June to August).  It is designed to not conflict with the regular fall and spring seasons that most teams in this area participate in, including NPL, NCSL, ODSL, CCL, EDP, etc.

If my child plays with CYA, are they automatically placed on a CYA Super Y League Team?

No, CYA players need to try out be offered a spot on a Super Y team.

Does my child have to join a CYA team in order to play Super Y League with CYA?

No.  Non-CYA players may continue to play on their current teams and with their current clubs during the fall, winter, and spring seasons.

What is the time / travel commitment?

Super Y teams will primarily play other teams/clubs in Virginia and Maryland.  Games start at the beginning of June and finish in August, and typically consists of approximately 8-10 games. The National Championship is held in December in Bradenton, FL at the IMG Academy.

Where will the team’s practice and play games?

Practices and training will generally take place at Sully Highlands, Westfield HS, Greenbriar Park or other available facilities in the Chantilly area.  Practices are usually held two times per week, depending upon game schedules.   Home games will be played at one of the above fields, with away games scheduled at fields in the Virginia and Maryland areas.  Games may be scheduled during a weekday or on weekends.

How many players will be selected for each Super Y League team?

The quality of players interested in joining the CYA Super Y League Teams will be a determining factor in roster size.

For the U10, U11, & U12 age groups, the teams will carry between 14-18 players, with a maximum of 14 players selected for the game day roster.

For the U13 – U18 age groups, the teams will carry between 22-26 players, with a maximum of 18 players selected for the game day roster.

What is the CYA SYL Refund Policy?

Once a SYL team position has been accepted via the registration system, there is a No Refund policy.  Exceptions to this rule are out-of-area relocation and documented medical injury/condition.
